jeffrey and i went to go see the king's speech this past weekend.  and just in time to see it win big time at the oscar's last night!!

the visuals in this movie are amazing.  we were very struck by lionel's office with the large fire place and exposed wallpaper that looks all marble-y.  the entire movie was extremely well done and you should definitely see it as soon as possible.

well, i forgot to mention some family february birthdays

since things have been a bit non-stop these days.

we have three siblings with bdays in february.

an ainsworth wedding: ceremony & reception.

kata and drew celebrated their wedding at the lovely parador.  this location is wonderfully charming and located in houston's museum district (one of the prettiest parts of houston in my opinion.)  it is a 1920's building with a lovely mediterranean feel and a beautiful outdoor courtyard.  kata and drew decided to do a "first look" so we got some fabulous family photos before the walk down the aisle.  the evening continued with a memorable ceremony, a fun cocktail hour, good ole southern comfort food and a great band.  before we knew it - it was time to send off the happy couple, who are currently enjoying themselves on the warm beaches of jamaica!  (i'm just a little jealous of those WARM beaches they are enjoying :)

an ainsworth wedding: rehearsal dinner.

this weekend we celebrated an amazing ainsworth wedding.  jeff's sister, kata and drew, tied the knot in houston, texas.  it was a lovely weekend filled with many memorable moments and festivities.  one of the weekend festivities was the rehearsal dinner, hosted by the taggart family.  it was a wonderfully intimate evening at flemings steakhouse, including heartfelt speeches, delicious steaks, a delightful slide show and warm wishes for the happy couple.

my all time favorite clothing store, Anthropologie, just lauched a bridal line - BHLDN (pronounced "beholden.")  this collection is absolutely stunning.  i am totally drooling.  it embodies the vintagey and whimsical feel of all things anthropologie while continuing to have unique and dramatic pieces.  soooo all you engaged, almost engaged or women of any age - check out this amazing new collection.  you won't be disappointed.

last night, the husband came home early from work

and they were delish as always.

we also enjoyed some champagne and a yummy chocolate cake.

it wouldn't be valentine's if we didn't exchange cards.

but, my favorite part was how we sat at our dinner nook and

talked for two hours.

it was delightful and a perfect little vday celebration.

this weekend proved to be a very crafty one for me.

jeffrey was off in nyc on a guys trip, while i enjoyed some lovely alone time.

with valentine's day right around the corner, 

i kept busy by making some vday cards as well as some vday decorations.

bookshelves {reorganized}.

on one of my snow days a couple of weeks ago, i decided to hunker down and reorganize one of our built in book shelves.  it needed some tweaking and i wanted to try color coding our books.  while looking through different design books and blogs i follow, i kept seeing books being organized by color.  so presto!  i tried it out and am super happy with the results.  i also added some framed pictures to mix up the space. 

reorganizing the bookshelves = the perfect snow day activity.

ladies weekend.

these lovely ladies and i headed to charlotteville, virginia last weekend for a little ladies weekend.  and it was DELIGHTFUL - although it always is with these ladies.  we ate delicious sandwiches at greenwood gourmet grocery, stopped by pollak winery for some wine tasting, did a little thrifting (resulting in all of us finding treasures!), dinner at c & o, enjoyed a romantic comedy and ended on such a high note with a lovely brunch at bluegrass.  i tell you what - this weekend was some much needed girlie time and i could do ladies weekends with these gals over and over.  i simply love these gals.

last friday started off with a bang

as i took 25 third graders to the freer gallery of asian art.

they were probably more excited about riding the yellow school bus

than heading to an art museum, but hey i tried.

and while the cupcake trend is delicious, 

i'm not one for waiting for hours outside of georgetown cupcake.

but, if macaroons stores start popping up all over

as in.... on the hill.

we might have a problem because i can't stop eating them.

i heart macaroons.
