sunday soccer.

jeffrey plays intramural soccer in the fall and spring and the fall season just started this past sunday.

i try to make it to most of his games to cheer on my man. in some ways it brings me back to highschool and our relationship way back when.  when i used to go watch his games as his "girlfriend."  wow, how things have changed since then....

weekend bits. {according to my iphone}

well, this weekend is just what we had planned...

1. laid low by watching lots of movies and napping constantly;

the wind and rain didn't allow for too many outside activities

2. caught up with some dc friends

3. survived hurricane irene without loosing power and 

cooked in for almost every meal.

happy friday + baby update.

 

pretty soon i won't be able to see my feet.

our little helga is measuring big

as in two weeks ahead of schedule.

i was hoping for a little ainsworth baby of 6 pounds, 

but it looks like we might have a swanson/welsh baby on our hands.

i measured in at 9 pounds.

it is starting to sink in that we might have a total chub-a-wub.

we are finally in town this weekend and 

plan on laying low, catching up with dc friends

and bracing ourselves for hurricane irene.

we get an earthquake and a hurricane in one week

lucky us.

becca and chris get hitched: the wedding.

becca and chris celebrated their union at grace bible church in houston heights.  a close friend preformed the ceremony and did a stellar job of making the ceremony both personal and meaningful.  we continued the good times at the lovely cohen house located on the campus of rice university.  this venue is simply stunning.  everywhere you look you see tons of beautiful oak trees combined with some fabulous architecture.  we drank, dined, chatted and danced the night away.  pretty soon it was time to see off the happy couple {who are currently honeymooning in hawaii!}

becca and chris get hitched: friday festivities.

after the welcome dinner on thursday evening, 

the wedding festivities continued

at the lovely canopy restaurant for becca's bridal luncheon.

i was so impressed with this place....

it was charming, delicious and 

provided the perfect setting for a bridal luncheon.

we gathered at another fabulous houston restaurant - ouisie's - 

to celebrate the rehearsal dinner.

the wilkinson's hosted a memorable evening 

of great company, 

great food (i had the chicken fried steak!), and

great speeches.

it was a wonderful evening.

welcome welcome baby evelyn!

 

 

welcome to this world baby evelyn gloria cheek!

born on august 21st and weighing 9 pounds 11 ounces.

proud parents are our dear friends 

megan and jason cheek with big sister olivia cheek.

she is looking so very adorable sweet friends and

i already cannot get enough of those cheeks on baby cheek - 

how appropriate!

we cannot wait to get our hands on her later this week

with lots of big hugs and kisses!

{ellen's bday}

on sunday evening, the welshes that were in town

gathered to celebrate ellen's birthday.

we had cake & ice cream and 

couldn't seem to leave the kitchen.

becca's bachlorette!

well, i'm on the road again

this time - houston, texas.

{while the husband joins me shortly}

we celebrated becca's {my lovely sister-in-law} bachlorette 

this past weekend in lake mcqueeney, texas.

we relaxed, ate, enjoyed the sun and water, ate, lounged

and ate some more.

i'm definitely getting my fix of mexican and bbq

while down south.

the weekend was wonderful as the celebrated the bride to be!

babymoon: part three.

next, we headed to the lovely beach town of

santa barbara and spent a couple of days

enjoying the beach, pool and scenery.
it was wonderfully relaxing.

 we love food trucks

off to dinner....

then, we made our way down to l.a. and 

hit up the getty art musuem, which is spectacular!

the architecture is incredible and every spot you stood

showcased a fabulous view.

i highly recommend a trip to the getty.

lastly, we met up with our dear friends - maggie and travis

who were in l.a. giving friend, jelena, a baby shower.
so we got to hang out with the crew on saturday night
before we headed back east.
it was a great ending to our babymoon.
