sneak peek: the crib.

this saturday was pretty gross around here

as in 30 degrees with freezing rain/snow that literally continued all day long.

this weather made the perfect day for us to work on

baby girl's nursery.

so jeffrey put together the crib

and we added the bedding and rug.

we are getting super close to finishing her room,

but here is a sneak peek of the crib to hold you over.

crisp weather and cooler temperatures make it the

perfect weather for my peppermint hot chocolate fix.

kta picnic.

this year for jeff's company picnic, 

we ventured to claude moore colonial farm in mclean, va.

i loved the venue this year...

an outdoor pavilion amongst the gorgeous fall foliage

 with weather that was perfectly fallish: cool and crisp.

we took a little walk to the nearby colonial farm

and snapped some pictures.

you will also be happy to know that jeffrey

was the champion of the corn hole tournament

and the adult hula hoop competition. 

i felt oh so proud.

the third book in the hunger games series.

:: this series of books is found in the "teen" section at the book store.

:: last week when I was subbing in a 7th grade class, I chatted with the all the girls about how good this book is....(they are currently reading this book as well)

:: i've heard "if you like the twlight series, then you will probably like the the hunger games series," which i have found to be true.

weekend bits. {according to my "new" iphone}

i use the term "new" because jeffrey got the brand new iphone 4s since he HAD to have it and i got his old iphone 4...so it is new to me. he spent most of the weekend transfering the data, updating the phones and basically playing with his new gadget.

we had a nice balance of catching up with friends and family (who were in town!) and relaxing with naps. trips to grab baby gear and homecooked meals. why do weekends ever have to end!?

my dc baby shower.

my amazing and very thoughtful dc friends threw a FABULOUS baby shower for me this past weekend.  the lovely hostesses - carol, megan and becca - created a charming atmosphere, delicious food and desserts and a very special afternoon.  thank you to all who participated - baby helga and i felt very loved and special.  we are so very lucky to have such loving people in our lives.

mia and andy come for a visit.

our sweet friends, mia and andy smith, came to dc last weekend for a quick little visit.  mia is a college friend and andy has been in the picture about as long as jeff has been {they are highschool sweethearts as well} and have an adorable little girl named, hazel.  it has been forever since we have caught up with these two, which helped to make the weekend extra special.  here are a few pics of us trotting around dc.

32 weeks.

i've been feeling under the weather this week with an annoying cold and 

have stayed pretty house bound for the past few days.

so when jeffrey suggested going out last night for pizza at our favorite pizzeria

i jumped at the chance to get out of the house.

it was just what i needed for a little cheering up.

thank you my husband.

this week marks 32 weeks in my pregnancy.

the countdown has officially begun - 8 more weeks to go

and i can't wait to not be pregnant anymore

PLUS meet our little one face to face!

the weather changed drastically to cooler temps

this past weekend, 

and we kept hearing ourselves say,

"fall is officially upon us!"

to embrace this new season, 

we headed outside the city for a day of

apple picking and wine tasting 

with some lovely friends.
