wine tasting in middleburg.

after our lovely christmas celebration, we headed out to some nearby virginia wineries to have some fun.  first stop was delaplane winery, which offered a clean and modern atmosphere with a fabulous view.  then, we ventured down the road to three fox winery, which housed a more cozy feel and many wines to taste and enjoy.  it was a fabulous way to spend the day after christmas. 

we ended our wonderful trip, by celebrating my mom's bday with some champagne, caviar and gifts for the bday gal - followed by a fun dinner in downtown middleburg, va.

one month.

dear little nugget,

today marks your one month birthday and wow how time has flown, but i guess that is what happens when you are having fun.  your dad and i continue to be in awe of you and find ourselves saying how cute you are about a million times a day.  you are healthy, a fabulous eater {atta girl!} and good sleeper {hallelujah!} and we couldn't be more grateful. 

last week, you had your first procedure done {got the little flap under your tongue clipped} and i was a bigger mess than you were - you took it like a champ.  you and me are still trying to figure out the whole breastfeeding thing, but hopefully things will continue to improve for us. 

you celebrated your first christmas in middleburg, va surrounded by love from the swanson family and received many goodies from loved ones from afar!  you proved to be a rockstar the entire trip {including successfully going out to eat on multiple occasions!}  we also received great help and snuggle time from your wonderful grandmothers - thanks moms!

you are such a joy to us and have made our home even more happy and loving than we ever thought possible.  we love you dearly and cannot wait to see you continue to grow.

we had glorious weather on christmas day - cool, crisp and blue clear skies - and decided to take an afternoon stroll around the beautiful farm land surrounding us.  it was wonderful to get out and enjoy the lovely scenery.

christmas in middleburg.

this year for christmas, we ventured to middleburg, va with my parents, brother and sister-in-law to celebrate.  since logan is a mere one month old, we decided to NOT attempt a plane flight back to texas.  we rented a cozy house at goodstone inn and made it our own by decorating a tree and bringing our own decorations.  this trip has been beyond memorable, especially since this was little logan's very first christmas.

one of my big goals this holiday season was to get a picture of logan and send out a joint birth announcement and christmas card.  so when logan was just a week old, we made our first attempt at capturing her in a picture.  here are some of the images that did not make the cut.

date night.

while omi was in town helping out, jeffrey and i got dressed up and ventured around the corner for a much needed date night.  since it was our first night out since having logan, we had to go to our favorite place - cork.  and it kinda felt like old times, except for the sweet cheeks we got to kiss when we left and when we returned.  also, our conversation during dinner kept turning to some of our favorite things logan does on a regular basis.  and while we missed our sweet gal, it was lovely to get out and have some quality time just the two of us.

back to reality.

tomorrow marks the end of jeff's paternity leave as he returns back to work. and of course we are so sad this special time is over. we have been so grateful for this time together as a family of three while we adjusted to our new life with logan maeve. luckily, we have wonderful help lined up from the lovely grandmothers - first jeff's mom and then my mom. thanks thanks moms!

over the past two weeks, we have been overwhelmed with love from visitors.  starting off with the help, support and love from all four grandparents and then moving on to dear dear friends.  all of who have brought us food, stocked our fridge, loved on logan and gave us some much needed company.  we are so thankful for each and everyone of you {those pictured below and those who we forgot to snap quick pics.}
