a little wallpaper.

i have been wanting to experiment with wallpaper for some time now, so we i jumped at the chance.  pictured above is our water closet aka the toilet room.

when we were working on the layout of the addition, we kept saying, we don't need a water closet.  we were coming from a tenny tiny bathroom in dc and we made it work - why would we need a water closet?  but with the layout of this addition, we kept running into this "dead space" {space without many windows} because we really wanted an attached one car garage.  so we ended up having space for this said water closet and i'm so glad we went for it.  always nice to have a little privacy when you are taking care of business.

my favorite part is when logan is in there with me {and yes this happens a lot} - she likes to point out the birdies on the wall.

the kitchen nook.

hello!  we finally got our new computer up and running last night {our old one died on us once we got back to texas a few months ago and we have just been using my parents computer in the mean time}.  

this is the only corner of the house that feels "put together" at this point.  unpacking with a toddler is proving to be quite difficult especially when she only takes 45 minute naps :)  the last few weeks we have been trouble shooting different "issues" {i.e this is isn't fitting, oh wait that piece looks like that!?, etc.} while also wanting to explore our new area, so not much unpacking really got done.

our kitchen is a big ole square, with the kitchen nook, refridge and pantry on one side and everything else on the other side.  we were thinking of doing built in seating on one side of this table, but the space just got too tight.  so far, we have been using this little nook to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner!

home sweet home.

we are FINALLY in our new home and couldn't be happier!!!  seriously it just feels so. good.  we have been waiting for this day for some time.  of course apart from the fact that this week and last week have been CRAZY.  little things that turn into big things.... like our oven not fitting in our cabinets, our washer and dryer not fitting around some shelves, us not ordering enough wallpaper {even though we had a guy come measure before hand to make sure} - you know those types of things.  we are learning a ton and we will get there.  and before long our home will feel all cozy and everything will be in its place.  

it has been absolutely glorious to be able to explore our new hood.  with nightly walks as a family to actually walking to nearby restaurants.  we became so accustomed to walking ever where in DC and it feels so wonderful to have that back in our daily life.

dining room sneak peek!

we got started on the move this weekend, but didn't get as much done as we would have liked....still working on it though.  gonna take this week off to concentrate on the move, but in the mean time - here is sneak peek of how our dining room is shaping up.

weekend project.

well, we tackled some DIY chairs this weekend and it took alot longer than I originally anticipated!  BUT, they are almost complete!  we started with some chairs we found at the guild shop {for a total of $46 for all four chairs!}.  We sanded, spray painted white {i used a high gloss} and reupholstered the cushions.  Here are some of the step by steps in pictures.

 this step was loooong.  we dug out all those little staples.

 definitely, a two man job.  jeff pulled the fabric super tight 

while i used a staple gun {!} to staple the fabric in place.

i ended up going through 2 bottles of spray paint per chair!

and could probably still use more - the wood just kept absorbing the paint.

now we are just waiting for the paint to dry and we will nail in the cushions.
