our california trip! {san fran part one}.

well folks, we just returned from a glorious trip to california for 10 days.  GLORIOUS i tell you.  it was such an amazing, perfect, fabulous, take me back right now kind of vacation.  after experiencing last august here in houston for the first time in 12ish years - we decided - august will be our month to vacate texas.  so we ventured over to cali for cooler temps, fabulous sites and quality time with amazing friends.  we started in san fransisco with mags and trav and gallivanted around this lovely city.  we hit up fun places like the exploratorium, ate really great food with lots of ice cream breaks, rode tons of buses {logs favorite}, explored the beach, hiked at muir woods, and laughed until our bellies hurt.  it felt so very good to be with these fabulous friends.  GOOD i tell ya.  here are some pics {part one} from our trip to cali.

3 months shy of 3 years.

my logi bear,

you are a joy my darling, a spitfire, a ball of energy, full of laughs and giggles, and show such empathy towards others.  your love of reading continues, which is wonderful to see.  wanting to read first thing in the morning, right before bedtime and throughout the day.  your talking is exploding and you are saying new things everyday - most of which are pretty funny and only a few snarky comments in there so far.

you love to run and boy are you fast.  you are still not really listening when we say stop, no yell at you to stop, which means we always have to be ready to sprint after you.  we have you signed up for soccer this fall and i think your dad might be more excited than you :)  hopefully you will enjoy it as well.  you are a bit of a daredevil as well - always wanting to go higher, faster and all by yourself. 

you have a sweet tooth beyond belief and will eat ANYTHING sweet we put in front of you.  your appetite for other foods is not so hot and sometimes we try and bribe you to eat just something off your plate.  you would never tell with your amount of energy though - so we keep on trucking.  we are STILL working on the whole potty training thing, which i feel like has been lasting forever.  you sure are strong willed my sweet girl.  we are transitioning you into a big girl bed soon and fingers crossed your amazing sleep habits continue.

logan's first clay project.

logs and i had some fun last week as we used air drying clay for the first time together.  it has been really fun to see her art "skills" and patience develop over the last few months.

white linen nights 2014.

white linen night is an night where heights residents dressed in their white linen finest venture out see local art, bars, shops, etc. in the neighborhood.  it was originally adapted from a tradition in new orleans and has grown quite big in the last few years.  we gathered with some neighborhood friends for the festivities and also got to meet up with aunt kata and uncle drew who were in town!  a great fun evening all around!

the end of an era.

this week, my parents move out of the beloved pink house.  we moved in when i was in the 3rd grade and zachary was in the 1st grade.  so needless to say we have many wonderful memories of growing up in this lovely home.  this weekend, we said our goodbyes as my parents embark on their new adventure!

jeffrey's bday.

over the weekend, we celebrated jeffrey's bday - which seemed to center around food - just our style.  some good ole mexican food at el tiempo with family and friends, a double date with dear buddies at underbelly and date night at the pass.  while i find it quite annoying at times when people photograph their food and constantly put it out there - we had to take pictures of the dishes at the pass - they are truly pieces of art.  so we had to share.
