miro at the nga.

this saturday, the weather was beyond AMAZING - so we decided to venture out and visit the national gallery of art for the joan miro exhibit.  we dined at jose andres' pop up restaurant at the nga - cafe catalonia and the whole day had us reliving our time in spain....when we visited the joan miro museum in barcelona.  anyways, we saw the below painting as part of the exhibit and snapped a quick pic {an illegal photo, as there was no photography allowed in the show - shhhh} and it reminded us of this time.  WOWZA i was huge and only a few days away from meeting out little logan maeve.  crazy how time flies.

dear nug, 

yesterday was your half birthday.  a whole six months - wow - where has the time gone?  we are getting lots of good giggles out of you, which is one of the best feelings in the world.  you are also using your vocal cords alot these days including some screaming scenarios we have experienced in restaurants.  this makes your mom and dad a bit uneasy, but we press on - knowing you are just exploring with new sounds you can make.  

we have tried lots of new fruits and veggies this past month.  your favorite fruits are apples, pears and peaches and your favorite veggies include carrots and sweet potatoes.  you seem to enjoy anything sweet - so maybe you will have a sweet tooth like your mama.  

everything is new and exciting to you.  you constantly have your hands out exploring whatever you can get a hold of.  after your grasp something, it goes straight for your mouth for more exploration.  you are working on sitting up on your own and you are getting closer and closer every day.  

each day our love for you grows and grows.  just when we think our hearts cannot hold anymore love, you do something that melts us.  i hope you can feel all the love we have for you because we try to show you every single day just how lucky we are to have you in our family.  we are so very thankful and beyond blessed.

weekend bits. {according to instagram}

hope everyone had a lovely long weekend.  we sure did in our neck of the woods.  it was a perfect combination of family time {just the three of us} and catching up with friends.  we took advantage of the holiday sales on saturday, dined out at some of our favorite places, cooked in, and there was even some bocce ball and picnicing happening on monday.  it was wonderfully relaxed and i'm sad that tuesday is here because that means the long weekend is over.

also, a HUGE shout out and CONGRATS to aunt becca,  uncle chris and cousin brian for graduating medical school this weekend!  we are so very proud of yall send big hugs from dc!

willa's baptism.

last sunday, we had the pleasure of being included in willa's baptism. {parents are dear friends - sean and carol}  it was a beautiful ceremony that took place on a wonderful day.  we celebrated afterwards as we enjoyed brunch outside with SIX children.  good times all around.

what it is about brunch that is so appealing?  it is the fact that breakfast is served until 3pm?  that it is perfectly acceptable to have cocktails at 11am?  because the weather is so nice and you can sit outside?  or is it just simply catching up with dear friends?  well, we enjoyed all the above this weekend with fish and becca and it was lovely.
