house progress {kitchen and family room}.

this is the heart of our home and where we envision spending the most of our time.  i love how in almost any setting, people always gather around the kitchen.  we got really lucky with the lay out of the original house because it was so easy to rip out the existing kitchen and add a very open family room.  still lots of little things to add and tweak - but we are getting there!

 working on a roman shade for that sink window

and a long skinny runner on the floor.

 i spy a little nugget enjoying her morning milk.

 the colors are much more true from this angle.  the below cabinets are a blue slate color.

working on some bar/counter stools and the layout of the open shelving.

 want to add more artwork to that wall and kinda create a gallery wall around the tv.

we are thinking of mounting the tv on the wall so it blends in more with the surrounding art.

 thinking of adding a small skinny table behind the sofa.

 and we need a bigger rug for this room.  we like this one so much we might just get the same one in a bigger size and put the existing one in the guest room.
