logan's first halloween.

it was a festive day.  first, we had cousins jason {the dinosaur} and casey {the kitty cat} over for a play date and lunch.  we dressed logan up in a zebra outfit given to her by omi.  she was not a fan of the head piece - but we managed to snap a few pics.  also, please note the giant monkey.  it is an art piece of my moms that always gets lots of comments.  not to mention the stares from the little ones.  we thought it would only be appropriate for uncle monkey to be in some of the pictures.

for the evening festivities, we decided to dress logan up as frida kahlo.  we did some trick - or - treating to a few neighbors we know and then just mainly answered the door to hand out candy.  the grandparents were in attendance as we had our cocktails and frightened little ones with uncle monkey.

dearest nug, 

happy eleven months sweetheart!  i cannot believe in one more month you will be turning one year old.  we are having the time of our lives with you as you explore EVERYTHING.  you are so very curious sweet pea. 

you have five teeth these days and boy are they sharp!  it hurts when you bite down on our fingers.  you are standing all the time now, strengthening those quads for walking, which we think is just around the corner for you.  you have got the whole waving hello and goodbye down and do it every chance you get, along with a big ole smile.  playing chase around the house has become a new pass time as well.  you are all giggles when we chase you.  you are also finding your rhythm and are starting to bust out some dance moves every time you hear music.  it is pretty stinkin cute.  

you are enjoying CLIFFORD the big red dog books these days as well as any type of animal sounds.  uncle trav taught you that owls say "whoooooo" and you have been saying it constantly.  along with a really cute "owl face."  you also LOVE to look at pictures of your self on our phones and get sad when we say you can't put our phones in your mouth.  

you continue to delight us every moment of every day love bug.  we love you beyond words can describe and cannot wait to celebrate YOU and your first year with us next month.

the lake with mags and trav!

this past weekend, we traveled to the lake with mags and trav.  mag's family has an amazing house in the hill country/canyon lake area with breathtaking views.  and the weather was cool - we were so enthusiastic to bring out the layers!  we had an absolute ball cooking in, crafting {girls only}, golfing {boys only}, playing board games {please note that the girls schooled the boys not once but twice!}, attended a pottery show, went antiquing, and just enjoyed each other's company.  we love these two friends so very much and have been so thankful that both of us are in "transition" here in houston at the same time.  cause we simply cannot get enough of them.  so thanks for the invite and wonderful weekend friends!

zoo fun.

dad and pawpaw had baby duty while we were busy with lady festivities.  so they went to the zoo to snap some pictures and see how logan reacted to the BIG animals.  apparently, the small animals didn't hold her attention too much.  according to the mens - logan's favorite part was feeding the giraffe.

cousin gina's baby shower.

i'm back!  from a brief hiatus last week - things got BUSY.  let me tell you.  anyways, last weekend my mom and i threw my cousin gina a baby shower.  gina and brian are expecting a baby girl this christmas and it was so fun to gather and celebrate the new welsh that will be entering our family.  not to mention throwing a shower with my mom - we could talk invitations and table scapes for hours.  great fun all around.

missing dc.

in recent days, i have really been missing dc.  mainly our dear dear friends there.  we miss yall like CRAZY!  we said our good-byes almost a month and half ago and prior to the last couple of days, it has just felt like we were gone on a really long vacation.  that we would be returning shortly and would have time to catch up with each of them.  i think the weather has alot to do with these feelings as well.  i keep seeing pictures of friends in dc in LAYERS - long sleeves and pants, while we are still definitely in shorts down south.  fall time - you will sorely be missed while we are in texas.  it is just not the same.

i know we are in transition right now and it has been beyond WONDERFUL to spend lots of quality time with family and a few friends.  this will take time - we knew that going in, but i just wish it would hurry up and happen already.  and if our house could magically come together in about a week - that would be awesome too!
