memorial day 2011.

while vic and jenn were in town, we ventured over to arlington cemetery to pay our respects and check out the sites.  jeffrey had never been and i hadn't been since my 8th grade trip to washington, dc.  it has been on our list of things "to do" while here in dc and we finally made the trip.  memorial day weekend was the perfect time to go.

vic and jenn's visit.

we had some wonderful friends come visit us this memorial day weekend - victor and jenn harris.  they traveled down from princeton and we spent the entire weekend gallivanting around the city.  we enjoy these two very much and hope to live in the same city sometime soon so the fun can continue.

fun fact: victor and i were boyfriend and girlfriend in 1st grade (or whatever a crush is in the 1st grade).  well, one friday when i was looking onto victor's spelling test for some help, he went up to the teacher to inform her.  the teacher then announced to the entire class, "blair stop cheating off victor."  needless to say, we broke up shortly after that - but we remained friends ever since.....xoxo

living room update.

well, i wish i remembered to take some "before" pictures - but that didn't really happen.  jeffrey and i decided to do a little update to our living room and got a new sofa and added some color by purchasing a rug as well.  so here are the results.

my favorite combo is nutella with strawberries

although nutella with bananas is pretty rad too.

i enjoy them every saturday and sunday for breakfast

and during the week for a yummy snack.

i even eat them twice on the weekends -

once for breakfast and again for snack time.  

i simply cannot get enough.

sadness.

 

{da and me: august 2009}

we said good-bye to our beloved grandfather, da, this weekend.

da had been bedridden for quite sometime and 

we have said our goodbyes to him multiple times, 

not knowing the next time we would see him. 

he was the most amazing grandfather.  

a true outdoorsman - 

teaching us the love of fishing from an early age. 

and in the last few years, 

he became quite the jokester.

we will miss you dearly da and

love you very very much.

a name.

and we shall name him or her.......

WOLFGANG!

(while in utro anyway)

our little one has taken on the nickname of wolfgang.

my dad is a huge fan of nicknames
and has helped us come up with this one.

while my brother and i were in utro
our nicknames were zeke
in hopes to hurry along and agree upon a real name.
(we even have a little teddy bear with the name zeke on it!)
well, my dad starting joking early on
about calling our kid wolfgang -
to which i said absolutely not and 
jeff thought was hilarious.
so it just kinda stuck. 

plus the only wolfgang's i know
(as in wolfgang mozart and wolfgang puck)
are on the artsy side.
so maybe some of their arty-ness will rub off on our wolfgang :)

we will be finding out the sex of little wolfgang in early july
and sharing the news,
but we are going to wait until the birth to share the true name we have chosen. 
we are not anywhere close as of now,
but we have many months ahead of us to figure it out.

thanks for the well wishes friends!  your emails have been amazing to receive.  we have been overwhelmed with excitement and joy to start this new chapter in our lives.  i've also been consumed by some lovely nausea and exhaustion, but hopefully that is on the way out.  if you have been following us on our blog - here is the truth behind some of our latest pictures....

i had good intentions of celebrating our anniversary this year, with cupcakes, champagne (lemonade for me) and nice dinner reservations - but the nausea took over.  

i could only stomach frozen pizza from whole foods.
