welsh women ornament exchange.

my cute cousin mereditha has started a little tradition of hosting the "welsh women ornament exchange."  we gathered this weekend for brunch, good food, festive drinks {the milk punch was amazing!}, and overall merriment.  it was such a lovely gathering of family. 

we missed you cousin gina and cousin kathryn!!!

funny story.

well, my mom changed her name.  her grandma name.  she was gram - which was cute and just fine and all, but then logan started talking.  and as with many toddlers - couldn't say words that started with a "g" - she was saying "papa" {jeff's dad} and "pawpaw" {my dad} all the time.  but, no gram.  logan could say mimi pretty easily.  so my mom went and changed her name to mimi.  and now logan calls my mom "mimi" without skipping a beat.  she was not confused at all.  so gram is no more and mimi is the new grandma name.  that silly mimi....we love her so!  she sure does keep us on our toes :)

and then my baby turned two.

logan's birthday was the day after thanksgiving this year - which made the whole long weekend even more special.  {first we got thanksgiving, then log's real bday and then we spent the rest of the weekend decorating for christmas - it was such a wonderful long weekend and made me oh so happy}  anyways, we took logan to ride the choo choo train {at the houston zoo} because it is one of her favorite things right now as she constantly asks for the "choo choo."  then, later that evening, we had the welshes and ainsworths over for a pizza party with cake and champagne. 

 ^^^this girl loves to blow out candles.  every time i mention her bday she starts trying to blow something out.  

  ^^^ also loved that turquoise icing made by omi, but really who didn't - it was delicious!

tgiving 2013.

our celebration was low key, no stress and wonderful this year.  we got up early {as always with a toddler} and headed downtown for houston's thanksgiving day parade.  the weather was perfectly crisp and cool, which made things all the more festive.  logan was in heaven with all the big floats - all i needed was a little hot chocolate to make things perfect - will have to remember that for next year. 

afterwards, jeff and i hosted at our house.  we had jeff's parents and brother, michael, over for the festivities.  lots of cooking and lots of deliciousness going on in our home.  it was a lovely celebration and best of all - since we cooked - we got to keep all the leftovers.  those amazing leftovers have been feeding us all weekend!

happy early tgiving!

it has been extra COLD here in htown recently and we have been taking full advantage of wearing our sweaters, hats and boots!  or as logan calls them "booooooooooootsssssssss."  think it will make this thanksgiving feel even more festive with the chilly temps. 

hope everyone has a lovely holiday this year celebrating with loved ones.  we can't wait for turkey day and then miss logan maeve's official bday on the 29th!  we are taking her to ride the choo-choo train, which she doesn't stop talking about these days.

playdate with katie and ellie!

FINALLY got to meet sweet ellie!!  katie {and slade} are dear friends in dc and are in town visiting family for tgiving.  little ellie was born back in june and we just kept missing each other until now.  so wonderful spending the morning with them.  loved getting to meet their little cutie!

zoo lights.

earlier this week - we headed to our first "zoo lights" held at the houston zoo with some friends.  this week has been for members only, which we hear is the way to go since next week {until xmas} it is a zoo at the zoo.  see what i did there.  and friends, we had the best time.  it is so magical to be at the zoo at night time and even more amazing when the whole place is lit with xmas lights!

an early bday celebration....

for miss logan maeve!

we decided to celebrate logan's bday a tad early this year - it worked out so well last year before the craziness of the holidays.  we had a festive and simple gathering filled with logan's favorite things - balls and bubbles.  we invited her new little friends along with family {aunt becca, uncle chris and aunt kata were in town!}.  the weather was not the best - sprinkling and humid - but it did not seem to bother the kiddos one bit.  it was a lovely morning of celebrating our little gal being TWO.  i just cannot believe she is two years old - she is our absolute JOY!!
