the lovely ladies of wednesday.

probably my most favorite thing about the summer.

every wednesday over the summer these lovely ladies (carol, megan - and her adorable daughter olivia or "O") find ourselves free from work on wednesday afternoons.  so we gather, have lunch, drink wine and catch up on each others' lives.  i LOVE it and look forward to it every week in the summer and throughout the entire school year.

i just simply love these people.  smooches.

queso and margs for dinner.

ummm this is literally what I had for dinner tonight.
sometimes you just need a little queso and some margs and you can call it a night.

lauriol plaza is the closest us DC residents can get to good tex mex.  I mean it is no ninfas, pappasitos, or el tiempo, but it is all we got.  and at least they serve yellow queso instead of the northern white queso, which is just not normal in my opinion. and the margs are pretty tasty too.

peppermint bliss.

this peppermint soap is pure bliss.
we were introduced to this magical soap when we stayed at the wonderfully funky hotel san jose in austin, tx for my cousin michael and lisa's wedding weekend in may {we have lovely memories of this amazing family wedding and this soap just added to the joyful celebration.}

while the label of this soap is not the most attractive, the soap itself is amazing for washing your body, hands, feet and maybe even your teeth - right mags!

sunday night.

jeffrey loves to cook sunday night dinner
and I LOVE to eat, so it works out pretty well.

last night jeffrey grilled pork chops (which I'm starting to warm up to) with a fabulous cherry salsa (fresh cherries from the farmer's market) along with an arugula salad and sauteed zucchini and squash.  it was delicious and i'm so lucky.

then we snuggled up on the couch and watched Up in the Air {great little movie by the way}
it was a lovely sunday night.  how was yours?

Cherry Salsa (thanks mama!)
1/3 c chopped onion
1/3 chopped green bell pepper
1/3 c of green chili or jalapeno
1/3 c of dried or fresh cherries
1/3 c red cherry jam
1 1/2 T vinegar

welcome to our little blog.

boom boom blair kins + hlb = a happy marriage.

for those of you wondering about these names - my dad has always been a big fan of nicknames and these are the ones he thought up for jeff and me.
boom boom blair kins has been around forever.  my dad is a tennis fan and the famous boris becker was called "boom boom" right around the same time I was two and scooting around, thus "boom boom blair kins" was born and always stuck.
hlb came around when "hairy legged boys" started hanging around the house, jeff being one of the first.
