house progress {guest bathroom}.

happy monday friends!  the guest bathroom is almost complete!  jeff and i added some frosted film to the window this weekend for privacy.  we did not want to do curtains and were unsure of exactly what window treatments to try.  so we decided to put up film for now and figured later on we could always change it if we wanted to.  we followed directions from our friends at young house love {here} and have been super happy with the results.  it took no more than 10 minutes and the film still allows for lots of great natural light to come in.

still playing around with the bath mat and need to get some hand towels - but we are almost there!

house progress {the mud room}.

since we have an attached one car garage, i was so happy to find a little niche to add a small mud room.  the accent color is a dark gray/slate/blue {and is the same color as our bottom cabinets in our kitchen}.  we snagged the fabric at a going out of business sale - so scored big time there.  i have plans to add hooks for all those coats we will be wearing down south and lots of baskets to put shoes and miscellaneous items.

happy weekend!

house progress {the living room}.

okay friends, i decided to show yall some "in progress" photos of what the house is looking like at the moment.  we still have alot to do in each room, but the reality is it is going to take us a few more months until we get everything in the spot we really want it.  so, first up is the living room and it is the first room you enter when you walk into the house.

this is the original living room of the 1920's bungalow {we added square footage in the back of the house}, so we really didn't do much to this first room.  we did make it a working fireplace as it was not working before.  hopefully we will get to use it on more than one occasion a year :)  we also painted the brick white and added a little molding to mimic the arch that goes into the living room and then the kitchen.

we are going for a navy and coral color palette in this room.  the rug is a true navy - reads a bit more black in this picture.  our plan is put some color block curtains {navy and white} i've been eying on etsy around the windows.  we also have a dresser in the works that i'm adding campaign hardware to and painting it a glossy navy - it will sit on the wall opposite the fireplace.  {there are still boxes on that wall, so i didn't take a picture of it}.

still need to style the mantel and find another piece of artwork to go above it.  i love that black and white photo {thanks cheeks!} - but it is just too small for the space.  we are on the hunt for it to find another wall to call home.

and think we might add a plant in the corner next to the fireplace as well.  also, the pillows are being updated - probably with some nice coral and navy color combos - still on the search for those.

crawfish boil!

last friday, we finally got a chance to attend papa {jeff's dad} company crawfish boil.  and boy did it live up to the hype!  there were tons of yummy {and spicy!} crawfish, sausage, jambalaya, sweet corn, margs, etc.  complete with a band for dancing and a moon bounce for the littles.  logan was in heaven with all the "big kids" playing around her not to mention the crawfish she actually enjoyed.  that little one won't eat a vegetable to save her life, but apparently she really enjoys some spicy crawfish - who knew!  the weather was spectacular - sunny degrees and 70!  it was a festive and wonderful friday afternoon.

the backyard {on a rainy afternoon}.

the backyard is finally "logan friendly!"  the deck was quite the process and took AWHILE to finish - especially when logan would stand at the door and beg to go outside {mind you there were screws and pointy objects just laying around FOREVER out there}.  our trees are looking pretty shrimpy at the moment, but apparently they grow 6 feet a year, so that will be some great privacy in the years to come.  the yard is long and skinny {the picture just shows half of it} - so it will be conducive to lots of long skinny games, like bocce ball, frisbee, soccer and corn hole.

logan's playroom.

here is one wall of logan's playroom.  the others have blue tape where the painters are coming to do touch ups and other corners still have boxes.  these boxes are never ending i tell you.  opposite this wall is a built in desk that i will show you pictures of later.  i'm so glad we embraced this extra dead space "space without any windows" due to our attached one car garage.  because now logs and all her goodies have a place to live with being out of way.

i'm still not so sure about the wall color.  i was going for a light aqua and red theme in here, but the wall color turned out more green.  but, it was crunch time and all i cared about at the time was getting in our house.  if we are still unhappy with it - jeff and i will tackle it one weekend.

^^although, most of the time it looks like this.
oh toddlers - they can mess up a room in about .5 seconds!

p.s. - those magic little shelves are from ikea and they have been fabulous so far
perfect height for a toddler.

a weekend trip to austin.

jeff and i jetted over to austin this past weekend to celebrate five years of marriage.  we dropped off logan at the grandparents {thank you omi and papa!!} and had a delightful time just the two of us in this funky town.  we stayed at the lovely hotel san jose, which we could not rave about more.  fun/modern rooms with a lovely outside bar covered in ivy and wisteria.  fabulous meals at uchi and elizabeth st. cafe helped make the trip just what we needed!

grabbed a couple of these guys to come live with us on 9th street.

some before and afters.

 remember these babies....
{found earlier this year at the lovely guild shop}

well, here is what they look like now.

we brought in the big guns {aka a professional upholster} to add the new fabric and refinish the wood to white.  they are reading pretty "bright coral" at the moment, but we are hoping the navy rug {that is on its way} and some navy curtains might tone them down a bit.  i've always been a fan of navy and coral together in a room.  will be sure to show you how the whole room comes together once we get that rug and curtains AND art AND some more furniture.

got these simple shelves at ikea ^^

and transformed them myself with some good ole rub n' buff.
which by the way is awesome!
my cousin, meredith, told me about it and you just wipe the stuff on and let it dry over night.

still working on the styling of these shelves and
trying to figure out what is logan friendly towards the bottom :)

p.s. - sorry for the poor quality of pics from my iphone, but you get the picture.
