happy halloween! 2013

we experienced our first halloween here in the heights this evening and boy it did not disappoint.  our neighbors warned us to plan for about 700 - 800 trick or treaters - and yes we easily hit that number.  our neighbor friends had us over for a little pre-party and then we trick or treated with them.  came home to an empty bowl of candy and went through the rest of our candy pretty quickly.  that might have been because logan was in charge of handing out the candy and she sure was generous.  handing out the candy in fist fulls.

 my cuties.

 our little peacock.

the tutu lasted less than 5 min.

very concerned about the snail on the pumpkin.

 halloween party fun.

getting into the loot.

p.s. - there was also a moment where my phone fell into the toilet.  so if you need to get in touch with me - message jeff for now or just email me.  i'm hoping it turns on in the morning :)

happy halloween friends!

getting back to our "new" normal.

as we take time to grieve, we are also trying to get back into the swing of things.  luckily, it is a festive time of year - which always cheers me right up.  when my brother, zachary, and his girlfriend, lauren, were still in town - we gathered at our place for pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting.  and it felt good to be around loved ones and good to be doing something creative.

thanks for the photos daddo!

support from loved ones.

we just wanted to take a minute to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support and love we have received from loved ones over the past few weeks.  it truly makes this journey a little more bearable.  so THANK YOU for all the cards, texts, phone calls, emails, flowers, plants, food, treats, love, hugs and prayers.  we are so very grateful.

also - special shout outs to these amazing peeps for flying into houston to help out and just love on us.

our silence.

dear loved ones,

there's been some silence here as we've been taking time to process our last few weeks.

at the beginning of october, jeff and i received some bad medical news about our baby boy.  we were completely shocked, devastated, saddened and complete messes.  we received this news upon arriving to dc for a fun filled weekend, yet basically just tried to keep ourselves together as we took in the news.  upon returning to houston we found ourselves in the hospital, surrounded by specialists and tests, and things simply worsened.

on october 15, 2013 - we lost our sweet baby boy.

we are grieving this tragic loss and taking it one day at a time.  we appreciate all the love and support that we have received during this impossible time.  we would be grateful for your prayers and positive thoughts as we continue on.

love,

blair, jeff and logan

roundtop.

this weekend, we traveled about 1.5 hr outside of houston to the area of roundtop, texas.  we were invited by our dear friend, sean, {jeff and sean have been buddies since the 3rd grade} and sean's parents.  sean's parents have the most charming and cozy home in the country.  jeff spent the majority of his senior year {skipping school - shhhh!} while camped out at the matula's - so we felt right at home.  their property is amazing - complete with 100 acres, two horses, three donkeys, a woodworking shop, a chapel, and amazing views!  we also happened to coincide with the roundtop antique festival, which is a mega antique festival that happens once a year.  we didn't even see 1% of what this fair has to offer and still came home with some great goodies!  so thank you again matula family for being such wonderful hosts - we just had a ball!

 first time shooting a pistol!

there is just something about texans - when you get together - the guns come out.

 antiquing!
