a stoop send off.

our lovely and thoughtful landlords hosted a little "stoop send off" for us last night.  too bad it was raining when the gathering began, but luckily it stopped and we got to enjoy the stoop later in the evening.  "the stoop" or the stairs is one of our favorite places here in dc.  we are constantly out there enjoying some wine, chatting about our days, making plans for the future or catching up with wonderful neighbors.  it is also the magical place where jeffrey proposed!  so we have a lot of fond memories on the stoop and are so grateful that kevin and keith shared it with us.  we will miss it so very much!

sooooo.....

we bought a house!

in houston, texas!

crazy i know.  

this has been our plan for some time, actually.  we have always said that once we started a family we wanted to be back in texas to be close to family.  so we are going to go try it - living in texas again.  it is crazy to think it has been 12 years since we lived there.  but, we are excited about exploring a new area of houston, about being close to family, and about being new home owners.  

our little 1920's bungalow above needs a little TLC, plus we plan to do an addition before we move in.  so, in the meantime {about 2 months} we will set up shop at my parents abode aka the pink house.  

with all this excitement of what we have to look forward to in texas, we are extremely sad to leave our dear dear friends we have made here in DC.  along with a city we have fell in love with over the past 7 years.  it is a bittersweet time for us, but we feel like it is the right decision for our family.

dupont farmer's market.

we woke up early on sunday to enjoy the pretty day and wonder over to the dupont farmer's market. {early mornings are the only way to beat the heat these days!}  our favorite - heirloom tomatoes - are in season, so we had to grab a few.  hope yall had lovely sundays as well.

an afternoon at the park.

yesterday, the weather was finally cooler than 95 degrees + so logan and i ventured around the corner to the park.  logs wasn't too sure of the swing - she wasn't upset, but she sure didn't break a smile either.  then, i got her on the "drums" and she went to town tapping her hands - she just loved those drums.

art lesson.

earlier this week my dear friend, megan, invited me over to do an art lesson with five three - ish olds.  we got down and dirty with oil pastels and watercolors while the kiddos learned about artist monet and cool colors.  although, many of the gals really wanted to use red and pink - oh well - we tried.  i had a ball and just LOVED being back the art setting - thanks for the invite friend!
