logan's first clay project.
logs and i had some fun last week as we used air drying clay for the first time together. it has been really fun to see her art "skills" and patience develop over the last few months.

white linen nights 2014.
white linen night is an night where heights residents dressed in their white linen finest venture out see local art, bars, shops, etc. in the neighborhood. it was originally adapted from a tradition in new orleans and has grown quite big in the last few years. we gathered with some neighborhood friends for the festivities and also got to meet up with aunt kata and uncle drew who were in town! a great fun evening all around!
hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

the end of an era.
this week, my parents move out of the beloved pink house. we moved in when i was in the 3rd grade and zachary was in the 1st grade. so needless to say we have many wonderful memories of growing up in this lovely home. this weekend, we said our goodbyes as my parents embark on their new adventure!
pink bubbly to toast the pink house!

jeffrey's bday.
over the weekend, we celebrated jeffrey's bday - which seemed to center around food - just our style. some good ole mexican food at el tiempo with family and friends, a double date with dear buddies at underbelly and date night at the pass. while i find it quite annoying at times when people photograph their food and constantly put it out there - we had to take pictures of the dishes at the pass - they are truly pieces of art. so we had to share.
the scallop.
the egg.
the bouillabaisse.
the foie gras.
the pork.
hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

veggie pie.
we tried a new recipe last night and i think it was a win. it uses a bunch of veggies, some cheese/mayo and a pie crust - delicious sounding right!? and super easy too. would be great with a summer salad. here is the recipe (makes 2 pies) in case you are in a cooking rut and need a new idea.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup peeled and chopped sweet onion, such as Vidalia
1 large zucchini squash, thinly sliced
1 large yellow squash, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 to 6 oz.)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4 to 6 oz.)
2 large tomatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices
2 - 9 inch deep-dish pie shells, prebaked as directed
1 - 8 ounce can sliced water chestnust, drained
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, add garlic and saute for 2 minutes; don't let it brown. Add onion, zucchini, yellow squash, and1/4 tsp. each of the salt and pepper. Cook until the squash is tender, about 15 minutes. Divide the mixture in half.
- Mix the mayonnaise and cheeses and set aside. Layer the sliced tomatoes in the bottom of the baked piecrusts. Sprinkle the tomatoes with the remaining salt and pepper. Layer the squash mixture on top of the tomatoes, then layer the water chestnuts. Top each pie with half of the mayonnaise and cheese mixture. Bake, uncovered, for 40 minutes. Allow the dish to stand for 15 minutes before cutting into wedges.
