the georgia o'keeffe project.

since the school year began, third grade teachers and a few specials' teachers (we are extra special cause we teach art, library, technology, music, etc :) have been working together to launch an innovative cross curricular, collaborative project for the third grade.  we used artist georgia o'keeffe as a vehicle to teach the students about abstraction, observation in science, the use of descriptive language, technology skills, and an appreciation of poetry.  the teachers involved included: me, the art teacher, the technology teacher, the library teacher and the third grade classroom teachers.  the project was brought all together when we hosted an art exhibit showcasing what our students learned in each discipline.  the opening reception (held from 6 to 7pm) was a great success with every student and parent or family member in attendance!
